Our new favorite date place! I’d have to say that this cute little French bistro far exceeded our expectations on food, quality, service and ambiance. The place is quite romantic with classical French music in the background while the bartender would be shaking up a cocktail for guests. The food was prepared in such a classic manner that it was just waiting to be eaten. On top of this, the service was exceptional which added to the whole experience topping off a great evening. We have already penciled in our next visit.

Had dinner here on a weekday and tried a few dishes. Complimentary baguette was served which was nice and crispy, not tough at all. The French onion soup was seasoned with quite a lot of herbs which tasted like oregano and the vinegary flavour was a bit too strong, but the partially submerged croutons baked with gruyere cheese was good. The crab croquettes with aioli from the chef's special menu was very creamy with a thin delicate crumbed coating, topped with some shaved cheese for extra flavour which was tasty. Had the wagyu rump steak accompanied with a grilled prawn (was informed the king crab leg is unavailable) for main and it was cooked to medium rare as requested. Steak was tender but it did not have much marbling for a marble score 8/9; the red wine jus was nice but the steak itself could be seasoned a bit more. Still a good steak but just not what I had expected. Prawn was tasty with the garlic herb butter. For dessert, had the mi-cuit au chocolat which is a sweet and decadent molten chocolate cake which paired perfectly with the cherry vanilla ice cream. Overall a decent meal with good pacing and the staff was friendly and polite.

Another Great venue on a Melbourne Bar scene!!!! Rustic interiors, warm, comfortable, communal, gives you immediate feel of belonging. Background "hum" of peoples chatter & light French music sets the stage for great night. Service was excellent, attentive, not intrusive, friendly and quick Just right! Now about food! As a legit representative of French tradition, meals were prepared beautifully, presented well and they've tasted amazing. Whether you're a Francophile or just admire well prepared comfort food, this little gem is a must-visit! We had Oysters, Escargots de Bourgogne , Scallops, Coq au vin, Beef bourguignon, Cauliflower in a fantastic sauce and fish. A bit of everything, but quite a bit as well, right...We've really enjoyed every bite and every sip of wine. Guest wise (at least that night) was nice mixture urbane clientele, younger groups, older groups, couples on date, all together very nicely blended into enjoyable relaxed crowd This was our first time but we will be back, definitively! Highly recommended Jana & Boris

Absolutely delightful French dining experience! I recently had dinner here and was truly impressed by the quality of both the food and the service. The atmosphere felt elegant yet warm — perfect for a cozy evening or a special occasion. The highlight of my meal was definitely the seared scallops - perfectly cooked, buttery, and beautifully presented with a delicate sauce that balanced the sweetness of the scallops. Every bite melted in the mouth! The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, making great wine pairing suggestions too. Overall, a memorable French dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates fine food and attention to detail.

Hi Raki, I just wanted to thank you for dinner last night at Bistro Sousou. It genuinely was the best meal I've eaten since I moved to Australia in 2011! The scallops were amazing and the steak was butter soft. Thank you again, Chris & El xx

Tried French Bistro Sousou Looks like the bistros do in Paris. It’s has an incredibly cosy and relaxing atmosphere with candles, interesting paintings, big windows, chandeliers classy jazz music which is not too loud but not too soft either, like a warm fire For entree ordered the salmon gravlax. It has a great mix of flavours. Cream cheese, sweet pickled onions & salty salmon but a perfect level of salty Had with a dry Pinot Blanc from Alsace for accompanying wine. Got the medium rare scotch steak which came with hand cut French fries and béarnaise sauce. Well cooked, pink on the inside crispy on the outside, delicious Wine match was a Côtes du Rhône red which was pleasant & very appropriate For side dish with the steak I got the green peas & lettuce Dessert was a very nice chocolate soufflé with quality ice cream (with another French red ) Good service here too. First time I came here I just got dessert which was also good. Got the chocolate mousse, crème brulée and a classic type of sweet wine from Sauternes

We were here for our anniversary dinner and will definitely coming back for the beef tartare and the steak frites. Servers were very nice and attentive. The pinot noir paired well with the medium rare wagyu rump. Beef tartare was fresh and flavorful, absolutely amazing. The scallops were very good. The only thing that could be better was the cheese soufflé, the cheese flavor was a bit underwhelmed.
